  • The motorcycle comes with a newly designed airbox and shorter throttle bodies.

KTM has taken the wraps off its flagship motorcycle, the 1390 Super Duke R. The motorcycle gets new updates, including design, mechanicals, and electronics. This variant of naked motorcycle is a successor to the KTM 1290 Super Duke. The motorbike 1390 Super Duke R will be available in R Evo and standard models; it is scheduled to go on sale in January 2024.

To make it lighter, powerful, agile, and feature-rich, the Austrian brand has reworked and updated this bike. The styling resembles the outgoing variant, while the LED headlight and winglet design are brand new. The headlight design on this motorcycle has been taken from the 990 Duke. The 1390 Duke R is based on a trellis frame. The frame has thinner walls, and as a result, it has reduced the weight of the motorcycle. As compared to the 1290, the chassis in this model is stiffer around the corners, thus making it better than the other model.

The 1390 Super Duke gets a host of electronics, such as a lean-sensitive traction control system, riding modes, TPMS, full-color TFT, and more. KTM has retained many features from the 1290, such as launch control, lean-sensitive ABS, wheelie control, slide control, traction control, and so on. However, all these features have been tweaked.

KTM has updated its LC8 V-Twin engine, and it now stands at 1,350 cc. The KTM Duke 1390 R is powered by a new 1,350-cc LC8 engine that churns out 190 bhp of peak power at 10,000 rpm and 145 Nm at 8,000 rpm. The new motorcycle weighs 200kg (without fuel), and it has a seat height of 834mm. The fuel tank capacity in the motorcycle is now bigger at 17.5 litres, and the wheels have been marginally redesigned. It has a newly designed airbox and shorter throttle bodies. The air intake has been renewed to make more space for the big fuel tank.

The new 1390 Duke comes with disc brakes at both ends along with Brembo monobloc calipers, a TFT instrument console, a semi-active WP suspension at both ends, a keyless pillion seat removal, and 17-inch wheels that are covered in super sticky Michelin Power GP tyres. The new motorcycle will set foot in the European market very soon, and it is likely to get more expensive than the outgoing model.
